Abstract
Koraci u civilizacijskom razvoju nakon industrijske revolucije ugrozili su integritet globalnog ekosustava, a podaci otkrivaju kako se i danas većina ekosustavskih usluga koristi neodrživo. Paralelno s rastom svijesti o navedenim problemima, kao jedno od rješenja nametnuo se koncept zelene infrastrukture. Istraživanjem literature pokazalo se da zelena infrastruktura sadrži čitav niz definicija, te da podrazumijeva različite sastavnice biosfere čiji je zajednički cilj pružanja ekosustavskih usluga i doprinos održivosti globalnog ekosustava. Nakon što smo elemente zelene infrastrukture grubo podijelili na one prisutne u okviru urbane sredine te elemente u mjerilu krajobraza, proveli smo istraživanje pojedinih ekosustavskih usluga, odnosno njihova doprinosa globalnoj održivosti. Analiza literature i oglednih primjera pokazala je da ovaj koncept efektivno doprinosi globalnoj održivosti, usprkos brojnim nedostacima koji prate njegovu implementaciju. Pored toga, uz svoje primarne funkcije, svaki element zelene infrastrukture istovremeno je pružao dodatne ekosustavske usluge, te smo zaključili da ih njihova multifunkcionalnost , bez obzira na nedostatke, čini kvalitetnim alatom za dostizanje globalne održivosti.

Parallel abstract (English)
The rapid development of civilization since the Industrial Revolution has jeopardized the integrity of our global ecosystem, and, even to this day, data consistently reveals that most ecosystem services are used unsustainably. Parallel to the increased awareness of these problems, the concept of green infrastructure has presented itself as one of the solutions. The literature search has shown that green infrastructure can be defined differently; however, it is comprised of the various components of the biosphere with a common goal of providing the ecosystem needs and contribution to the sustainability of the global ecosystem. Once the elements of the green infrastructure were roughly divided into those present within the urban environment as well as those present within the landscape scale, we conducted a survey of some ecosystem services, and their contribution to global sustainability. Analysis of the literature and case studies shows that this concept effectively contributes to global sustainability, despite the many shortcomings that accompany its validity. In addition, with its primary function, each element of green infrastructure, at the same time, provides additional ecosystem services, and we concluded that their multi-functionality, regardless of the flaws, makes for a high-quality tool for achieving global sustainability.
