Abstract
Adaptivni kapacitet sposobnost je nekog sustava da se prilagodi promjenama svoje okoline kako bi u njoj mogao opstati. Protekla dva stoljeća industrijske revolucije i tehnološkog napretka dovela su do brojnih promjena okoline u svijetu. Te promjene imaju i pozitivne i negativne strane. Zbog težine negativnih posljedica koje su nastale kroz procese industrijske revolucije, a koje su vezane uz brze i štetne promjene klimatskih obrazaca, brojni sustavi suočeni su s nužnošću prilagodbe novim uvjetima svoje okoline. Kako bi se uspješno prilagodili i dugoročno održali, ti sustavi moraju iskoristiti svoj adaptivni kapacitet i primijeniti neke od brojnih mjera mitigacije i adaptacije. Sustavi posebno ranjivi na klimatske promjene su urbani krajobrazi u kojima živi velik broj ljudi. Primjenom mjera adaptacije u procesu urbane obnove, gradovi mogu povećati svoju otpornost na negativne učinke klimatskih promjena i osigurati svoju održivost u budućnosti.

Adaptive capacity is the ability of a system to adjust to changes in its environment for the purpose of survival. The past two centuries of industrial revolution and technological progress have led to many environmental changes on a global scale. These changes have had and continue to have both positive and negative aspects. Due to the severity of the negative consequences of the industrial revolution process regarding fast and adverse changes in climate patterns, various systems are now faced with the necessity to adapt to new conditions of their environments. In order for their adaptation to be successful and long-term, these systems must utilise their adaptive capacity and implement some of the many mitigation and adaptation measures available. Highly populated urban landscapes are systems particularly vulnerable to climate change. By implementing adaptation measures through the process of urban regeneration cities can enhance their resilience to negative climate change effects and ensure their future sustainability.
