Abstract
Kod stranooplodnih voćnih vrsta i sorata odabir oprašivača je od velike važnosti. Prilikom odabira, osim na primarne aspekte (vrijeme cvatnje, kompatibilnost, vrijeme dozrijevanja, agrotehniku), treba obratiti pažnju na moguće efekte ksenije i metaksenije. Ti se pojmovi odnose na fenomen direktnog utjecaja polena oprašivača na svojstva sjemenki i plodova oprašene sorte. Neka od važnijih svojstava ploda na koje utječe izvor polena su masa, veličina, oblik i boja ploda, tvrdoća ploda, svojstva sjemenki, sadržaj ukupnih šećera i kiselina, udio topljive suhe tvari, omjer topljive suhe tvari i ukupnih kiselina, pH i dr. Obzirom na kompleksnost ksenije i metaksenije nova saznanja o tim fenomenima mogla bi imati primjenu ne samo u voćarskoj proizvodnji već i u biljnoj genetici, fiziologiji i oplemenjivanju, što ukazuje na važnost daljnjih istraživanja.

Parallel abstract (English)
For cross-pollinating species and varieties of fruit, the selection of pollenizers is of great importance. While selecting, attention should be given to not only the primary aspects (flowering time, compatibility, ripening, management), but also to the possible effects of xenia and metaxenia. These terms refer to the phenomenon of direct effects of the pollenizer’s pollen on properties of seeds and fruits of the pollinated varieties. Some of the most important properties of fruit affected by the source of pollen are weight, size, shape, color and firmness of the fruit, properties of the seeds, total sugar and acid content, total soluble solids, soluble solids and total acids ratio, pH, etc. Regarding the complexity of xenia and metaxenia, new findings on these phenomena could not only be applicable in fruit production, but also in genetics, physiology and breeding, which indicates the importance of further research.
