Abstract

The integrated plant protection against pests is trying to use protection measures without pesticides instead of chemical preparations. Biotechnical assets which include storm and insects protection nets, can have a negative impact on the useful entomofauna. Ground beetles, i.e., family Carabidae bugs, are important predators of plant - eating insects. They are living on the ground and overwinter in the soil. Research about influence of different types anti-hail nets on the ground beetle fauna was conducted in the Krapina - Zagorje County, in the municipality Radoboj. Ground beetles monitoring was conducted using catch containers in period from July to October 2015. Catch containers were placed in the apple orchard with protection nets (yellow, red, white and white with dense buds) and one part was under control without protection net. Total of 1559 individuals were collected, members of the 19 species of the family Carabidae, under the protection nets was caught 1376 individuals, members of the 18 species of the family Carabidae and under control was caught 183 individuals, members of the 15 species of the family Carabidae. The objective of the study was to determine types and number of ground beetles in apple orchard under integrated production system.
