Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Mare's milk as an alternative in the Croatian dairy sector is still just an idea in Croatia. Although the culture of milking mares is important in areas of Eastern Europe and Asia, it is slowly spreading to the rest of the world, including Croatia. The most famous area of equine husbandry in our region is certainly Nature Park Lonjsko Polje. Centuries-old traditions of extensive grazing on the flood areas of the Sava and Lonja rivers, created a unique agricultural system. The most famous of the indigenous breeds that are held in this area are Croatian coldblooded and Posavina Horse. In the modern era those breeds have lost their role of working horses and are now bred for traditional heritage and / or meat production. The new value could manifest in the breeding for milk production. By creating a business plan to raise barns and milking parlor for mares, this thesis provides insight into the initial investment and the necessary resources for construction. Results of market research methods of supply and demand are establishing foundation for a realization of sale. In conclusion, using the methods of economic indicators analyses, the assumption is set. It is possible to implement the project, and breed horses for the production of milk and profitable sale.
