Abstract
Općina Livno je kulturno i gospodarsko središte u Hercegbosanskoj županiji, te je drugi po veličini u BiH s većinskim hrvatskim stanovništvom. Prema popisu stanovnika iz 2013. Godine, Općina Livno broji 37.487 stanovnika. Livno je smješteno na zapadu Bosne i Hercegovine, nekako na sredini, pa ga neki svrstavaju u Bosnu, a neki u Hercegovinu. Grad se nalazi na 715-870 metara nadmorske visine, što mu donosi vrlo hladne zime i relativno topla ljeta zbog blizine mora. Između visokih planina utonućem tla nastala je dolina sa 405 km2 površine i nazvana je Livanjsko polje. Prosječna dužina polja je 65 km, a širina 6 km. Osim Sturbe, Livanjsko polje krase i vode Bistrice i Žabljaka. Jedan dio Livanjskog polja bogat je tresetnim tlima, pa se samo u tom dijelu polja pojavljuje problem sa viškom vode u tlu. Problem viška, ali i manjka vode rješavan je davnih godina sustavima odvodnje- kanalima, i sustavima navodnjavanja. Nažalost, i danas postoje mnogi problemi u polju, odnosno u samoj proizvodnji i poljoprivredi. Problemi su mnogo veći i teži od samog viška odnosno manjka vode.

Livno is a cultural and economic center in Herzegbosnian County and the second largest in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the majority Croatian population. According to the census of 2013, the municipality of Livno has 37,487 residents. Livno is situated in the west of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sort of in the middle, but by one classified in Bosnia, and some in Herzegovina. The city is located at 715-870 meters above sea level, as it brings very cold winters and relatively warm summers due to the proximity of the sea. Between the high mountains sinking ground caused the valley with 405 km2 and is called the Livno field. The average length of the field is 65 km, a width of 6 km. In addition Sturba, Livno field adorned by water Bistrica and Zabljak. One part of Livno field is rich in peat soils, but only in that part of the field there is the problem with excess water in the soil. The problem of excess or shortage of water and solved the ancient old systems odvodnje- canals, and irrigation systems. Unfortunately, today there are many problems in the field, or in the manufacturing and agriculture. The problems are much larger and heavier than the excess or shortage of water.
