Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The function of decorative plants in interiors is multiple, but their choice is very limited because of ecological conditions and the ability of maintenance and care. This problem is particulary noticed in public areas such as hotel-gastronomic objects where the plants are used for decoration, and ability of care and maintenance are significantly more difficult because of the users presence. The purpose of this study, conducted in Omiš area, was to explore which plant species are the most common and what is their function, to evaluate the state of decorative plants concerning their growth conditions in the interiors of the chosen hotel-gastronomic objects of different categories and to view estetic impression in overall. It is also necessary to suggest the guidelines for improving the condition. Method of work is based on inventoring the plants in the interiors of the chosen hotel-gastronomic objects of different cathegories (hotel, cafee, restaurant, tavern and ship) in the city of Omiš. After inventoring and processing the data it was revealed that the most common type of plant is Yucca elephantipes Regel ex Trel. which proved to be quite resistant species. In recent times there is a decrease use of certain plant species, which were previously used more often as Spathiphyllum wallisii Schott and Ficus benjamina L. and they are replaced by „modern" ones i.e. plants that are native in the area i.e. Mediterranean, indicating that the choice of species depends on trends and them beginning to value and recognize the quality of plants that are from native area. Growth conditions of pot plants in the individual objects are different, and the worst are in tavern. Plants perform various spatial functions and in most objects their complete estetic impression was taken care off.
