Abstract	Gastronomy is one of the key factors in tourism and nation’s identity. Nowadays, more and more countries are adjusting to globalization and trends in gastronomy. Due to this fact, traditional cuisine is starting to lose its importance and if this matter is not addressed, it can disappear from local restaurants and in the end it can even be forgotten. Furthermore, Croatian traditional cuisine is very specific, very regional in its character and since Croatia is a tourist destination, it is very important to keep the traditional cuisine alive in order to keep the gastronomic identity of each region. Also, Croatian traditional cuisine often has very typical dishes and some even protected as intangible cultural treasures of Croatia. When referring to language, these dishes are often impossible to translate properly so translators have to reach for descriptive translations which will provide the information about the dish, but the name is left in its original form. This final thesis explores people’s opinion on this subject as well as their attitudes towards Croatian traditional cuisine. Through a case study involving two professional restaurants, it aims to focus on current gastronomy trends and the position of traditional Croatian cuisine in modern restaurants.
