Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Many traps of different colors and structures are used in the sampling of female horse flies (Tabanidae). The most efficient traps in a series of studies conducted in Croatia are the plastic oil trap, modified Manitoba traps and Nzi trap and they were the most successful in the sampling of horse flies, while the dark colored box traps are more successful than light colored box traps. Less successful traps in the sampling of horse flies were modified Malaise trap, plastic bottle trap and tent like trap. Natural and synthetic attractants which were used in sampling of horse flies have had significantly contributed to the efficiency of traps. The best natural attractant was aged cow urine and the best synthetic attractant was octenol.
