Abstract
Utjecaj bakra na rast vrste Lemna gibba L. istraživan je standardnim Lemna sp. Growth Inhibition Testom (OECD guideline 221). Za istraživanje su korištene dvije kulture, jedna uzgajana u kontroliranim laboratorijskim uvjetima te druga izolirana iz ribnjaka Narta na području Bjelovarsko-bilogorske županije. Laboratorijskim testom utvrđena je stimulacija rasta obje testirane kulture biljaka pri nižim koncentracijama bakra, dok se pri višim koncentracijama pojavljuju simptomi toksičnosti i smanjenje prirasta. Dobiveni rezultati pokazali su da je kultura izolirana iz ribnjaka Narta osjetljivija na bakar u usporedbi s kulturom uzgajanom u laboratoriju. Toksičnost bakra povećavala se s povećanjem vremena izloženosti za obje kulture vrste L. gibba. Kod kulture iz ribnjaka Narta snažan utjecaj na zaštitu stanica od toksičnog djelovanja bakra, imali su karotenoidi.Prema dobivenim rezultatima utvrđeno je da standardni testovi toksičnosti mogu podcijeniti toksičnost bakra na biljkama uzgajanim u kontroliranim uvjetima u odnosu na biljke u prirodnom okolišu.

The toxic effect of copper on growth of Lemna gibba L. was investigated using a standard Lemna sp. Growth Inhibition Test (OECD guideline 221). For testing copper toxicity two L. gibba cultures were used, one cultured in laboratory conditions and one isolated from fishpond Narta in Bjelovar-Bilogora County. Stimulation of growth was observed in both tested cultures at lower copper concentrations, while chlorosis and lower growth rates were evident at higher concentrations. The culture of L. gibba plants isolated from Narta was more sensitive to copper in comparison to laboratory culture. The copper toxicity increased with increasing the duration of exposure. Carotenoids had significant effect on cell protection from copper toxicity in plants from Narta.Standard toxicity tests can underestimate copper toxicity when performed on plants cultured in controlled laboratory conditions in comparison to plants grown in natural conditions.
