Abstract
Interes za istraživanje biofortifikacije selenom povecao se tijekom prošlih desetljeca zbog potencijalnih pozitivnih ucinaka selena na ocuvanje zdravlja ljudi. Biofortifikacija usjeva selenom ucinkovit je nacin povecanja unosa selena u ljudski organizam, no istovremeno je također potrebno utvrditi kako selen djeluje na biljke Poznato je da selen nije esencijalan za biljke, u malim količinama ima pozitivno antioksidacijsko djelovanje, dok u vecim koncentracijama može imati i toksicno djelovanje na biljku. Kako bi utvrdili ucinke biofortifikacije selenom na ozimu pšenicu, tri sorte pšenice su tretirane razlicitim količinama i načinima primjene selena te je određena koncentracije selena u zrnu pšenice i komponente antioksidacijskog sustava u listovima zastavičarima. Folijarni tretman s 10 g ha-1 selena je najviše povećao koncentraciju selena u zrnu sve tri sorte pšenice. U listovima zastavičarima sve tri ispitivane sorte tretman selenom nije imao značajan utjecaj na aktivnost enzima superoksid-dismutaze, dok su promjene u aktivnostiglutation-reduktaze kao i količina produkata lipidne peroksidacije, fenola te ukupne antioksidacijske aktivnosti bile uvjetovane sortom i načinom primjene selena.

Interest for selenium biofortification has been increased for the past few decades due to the potential benefit effectsof selenium on the human health preservation. Selenium biofortification of crops is effective way to increase human selenium intake, but it is also important to discover Se influence on plants. It is known that Se is not essential element for plants, however small amounts have positive antioxidative effect, while higher concentrations may also have toxic effect on plants. To establish the effect of selenium biofortification, three winter wheat cultivars weretreated with different amounts and ways of application of selenium in order to detremine the concentration of Se ingrains and components of the antioxidative system in flag leaves. Foliar treatment with 10 g ha-1 of selenium resulted with the highest grain Se concentration in all three tested wheat cultivars. In flag leaves of all three tested cultivars selenium treatment had no significant effect on the activity of superoxide dismutase, while changes inactivity of glutathione reductase and amounts of lipid peroxidation products, total phenols and total antioxidative activity are depending on the cultivar and the selenium application method.
