Abstract
Event može biti svečanost, ceremonija, sportsko natjecanje, kongres, konferencija, izložba, festival ili zabava. Sva ta značenja možemo objediniti riječju događanje. S obzirom na veličinu možemo ih kategorizirati kao megadogađanja, regionalna, značajna ili manja. Za rad u ovom sektoru potrebne su razvijene menadžerske vještine te primjena marketinških metoda i tehnika u cilju ostvarenja kvalitetne promocije događaja. Stalna prisutnost i praćenje tržišta temelj su za uspjeh u dinamičnom okruženju event menadžera. Često se ova djelatnost svrstava u one s najvećom dozom rizika i stresa zbog velike međuovisnosti sudionika organizacijskog tima. Event menadžeri će smatrati svoj posao uspješno obavljenim ako dovedu prave ljude, na pravo mjesto i u pravo vrijeme. Prema tome, pronalaženje ciljne skupine je bitan segment ovog posla. Ono što predstavlja izazov je činjenica da niti jedno događanje nije isto te organizacijski tim mora koristiti metode i tehnike kreativnog razmišljanja u borbi za udio na tržištu. U Republici Hrvatskoj od 2010. do 2015. godine postoji trend otvaranja tvrtki koje posluju u sektorima M i N (NKD 2007), vezanim za organizaciju događanja, ali financijski podaci govore da te tvrtke ne posluju toliko uspješno. Završni rad prikazuje teorijski okvir event menadžmenta, statističke podatke na razini svijeta i Hrvatske, kvalitativnu analizu promatranog sektora te primjenu menadžerskih funkcija na primjerima dviju event tvrtki. Istaknuti su prijedlozi za rast i razvoj industrije te budućnost struke.

An event can be festivity, ceremony, sports competition, congress, conference, exhibition, festival or entertainment. All those meanings can be summarized in one word – event. Given the size of the events we can categorize them as megaevents, regional, significant or smaler. To work in this sector a person has to develop managment skills, and knowledge to apply marketing methods and techniques in order to achieve quality promotion of events. Constant presence and market monitoring are an essential foundation for success in the dynamic surrooundings of event manager. Often this activity is classified as the one with the highest level of risk and stress because of the high interdependence between the participants of the organization team. Event manager will consider his work successfully completed if he brings the right people at the right place and the right time. According to that, the main segment of this job is finding the target group. The main challenge is the fact that not a single event is not the same and the organization group has to use methods and techniques of creative thinking in the fight for market share. From the year 2010. to 2015., in Croatia, there is a trend of opening companies that operate in sector M and N (Nace, rev. 2007), and are connected with organization of events. This final work shows the theoretical framework of event management, statistic and qualitative analysis of observed sector in Croatia and application of management functions on the example of two event companies. There are propound proposals for growth and development of the industry and the future of the profession.
