Abstract
The main purpose of this paper is to examine the financial ratios as a measure of quality of securities for five companies in Republic of Croatia which are: Croatian Telecom Inc., INA Inc., HEP – Hrvatska Elektroprivredna Inc., Petrol Inc., Pliva Ltd.. More specifically, it will assess the financial situation of these companies for the period 2015 – 2018. Referring to the annual financial statements of these companies through calculations of financial ratios, for each of them the performance of their businesses will be examined. This paper contains material that is based on data published by the companies on the Internet, as well as literature from various books and journal articles. The first part of this paper the introductory part which discusses the concept of securities. The second part of the paper discusses the literature regarding securities, their main features, types, classification of securities, financial ratios of securities, advantages and constraints of financial ratios and classification of financial ratios. The third part discusses the methodology used and history of companies which are used sample. The fourth part of the paper discusses the calculations of financial ratios for each company. The fifth/final part of this paper are conclusions.
