Abstract
This paper discusses the phenomenon of Chinese tea production and trade throughout history, as well as its state today. The emphasis will be put on the successful economic and rural development of China with the challenges of today in sight. Furthermore, the history of Chinese tea breakthrough and the internal market structure will be explained. Also, the causes of why China is the second largest producer after Kenya, will be shown. Since it is not easy to provide the evergrowing population with the proportionally evergrowing demand for all goods and also tea, the problem of pesticide use comes into the spotlight. China has also a solution to that problem and that is the organic cultivation of this plant.
