Abstract
ETL (kratica dolazi od Extract Transform Load) je postupak prebacivanja podataka s jednog mjesta na drugo i prilagodbe tih podataka. Podaci se uzimaju s jednog ili više izvora i prilagođavaju odredištu. ETL se najviše primjenjuje za prebacivanje podataka iz operativne baze podataka u skladište podataka. Skladišta podataka su baze podataka namijenjene naknadnoj analizi podataka, a ne procesiranju transakcija. ETL alati se koriste za definiranje ETL procesa. Dijele se u dvije glavne skupine: ETL alate s grafičkim korisničkim sučeljem i ETL radne okvire. Skriptni jezici su programski jezici visoke razine. Podržavaju pisanje programa koji se pokreću u posebnom okruženju koje interpretira i automatizira izvođenje zadataka. Skriptni jezici su posebno pogodni za izradu ETL radnih okvira jer omogućavaju pisanje učinkovitog programskog koda. ETLator je ETL radni okvir u programskom jeziku Python koji omogućava jednostavno i učinkovito definiranje ETL zadataka uz potpunu fleksibilnost Pythona.
Abstract (english)
ETL (Extract Transform Load) is the process of transporting data from one place to the other and adaptation of that data. Data is transfered from one or more sources and adjusted to fit the destination. ETL is mostly used for transportation of data from operational database to a data warehouse. Data warehouses are databases used for analysis of the data, not for processing transactions. ETL tools are used to define ETL process. There are two main groups: ETL tools with graphical user interface and ETL frameworks. Scripting languages are high level programming languages. They support writing programs that are written for a special environment which interprets and automates the execution of tasks. Scripting languages are particularly suitable for ETL frameworks because they allow developers to write efficient code. ETLator is an ETL framework written in Python programming language which allows simple and efficient definition of ETL tasks with full flexibility of Python.
