Abstract	Cilj ove radnje jest istražiti feminističke elemente u romanima Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse Virginije Woolf, i to oslanjajući se na temeljne tvrdnje njezina eseja A Room of One’s. Moja temeljna ideja jest da se većina likova u ovim romanima može smatrati čuvarima tradicionih vrijednosti igrajući uloge koje su im društveno određene. Ženski likovi su tako prikazani kao dobre kućanice te odane žene i majke čiji je temeljni životni cilj ostvariti ekonomsku sigurnost udajom. Muški likovi imaju društvene pozicije i često su dominantni. Gđica Kilman i Lily Briscoe su jedini likovi koji se istiniski suprotstavljaju konvencionalnim vrijednostima, i to zato što su ekonomski neovisne i što odlučuju ostati neduane. Gosp. Ramsey također doživljava unutarnju transformaciju prihvaćajući nove uvjete života nakon smrti gosp. Ramsey.
Abstract (english)	The aim of this thesis is to explore feminist elements in Virginia Woolf’s novels Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse by drawing on the main arguments in her essay A Room of One’s Own. My main contention is that both male and famale characters in these two novels can be seen primarily as preservers of traditional values, playing the roles that are socially imparted to them. The female characters are thus dipicted as being loyal and as good housewives and mothers whose aim in life is to get economic security through marriage. The male characters are socially positioned and domineering. Miss Kilman and Lily Briscoe are the only ones who truly oppose conventional values in so far as they are economically independent and decide to remain single. Mr Ramsey also undergoes a transformation in accepting the new conditions of life following Mrs Ramsey’s death.
