Abstract
Magijske lutke spadaju u magiju ili kletve sputavanja, zajedno sa defixiones. Ideja o takvim lutkama je jako stara, ali se u Grčkoj pojavljuju za vrijeme arhaike. Izrađuju se od raznih materijala, kao što su: vosak, vuna, glina, metal, tijesto, i sl. Služe u svakojake svrhe, najčešće s ciljem da se pobijedi konkurencija u ljubavi, poslu, na nekakvim sudskim sporovima i da osoba koja izvodi kletvu dobije što želi. Magijske lutke mogu biti svakakve, od potpuno nerealnih, do nešto realnijih prikaza ljudi. One zapravo niti ne trebaju prikazivati ljude, to mogu biti i životinje ili mitološka bića (npr. Kentaur). Osim pronađenih lutaka koje su nam ostale sačuvane, one se spominju i u raznim antičkim izvorima iz kojih možemo saznati stvari koje možda ne bi mogli iščitati iz same lutke.
