Abstract	This thesis comprises four annotated translations, accompanied by a discussion. Excerpts from three books were translated from English into Croatian (This is going to hurt. Secret diaries of a junior doctor, The Translation of Children's Literature. A Reader, Quantitative research methods in translation and interpreting studies) and two from Croatian into English (Uvjerljivo drugi, Narodni preporod u Istri [1860–1907]). The discussion focused on the application of Jakobson’s model of functions of language in the translation of literary texts by studying various relevant examples from translations of Uvjerljivo drugi and This is going to hurt. Secret diaries of a junior doctor.
Abstract (english)	Ovaj diplomski rad sadrži četiri prijevoda s dodatnim komentarima te raspravu. Dijelovi iz tri knjige bili su prevedeni s engleskog na hrvatski (This is going to hurt. Secret diaries of a junior doctor, The Translation of Children's Literature. A Reader, Quantitative research methods in translation and interpreting studies), a dva iz hrvatskog na engleski(Uvjerljivo drugi, Narodni preporod u Istri [1860–1907]). Rasprava se bavila primjenom Jakobsonovog modela jezičnih funkcija u prijevodu književnih tekstova tako što je proučavala različite ogledne primjere iz prijevoda tekstova Uvjerljivo drugi i This is going to hurt. Secret diaries of a junior doctor.
