A child is entitled to a stage puppet from an early childhood. In the play with the stage puppet, the child develops oral, social and creative skills. The child imaginatively and deftly turns the stage puppet into a living being, gives it a name, cares about it, tells stage puppet his stories, problems, wishes. The task of adults, parents, educators, teachers and others is to provide daily access to puppets and enjoy theatrical and puppet shows that have a long historical background. One of the most affordable puppet for preschool aged child is the ginjol puppet because that puppet can be controlled and enjoyed by children. Other stage puppets are more complex for children’s hands. The aim of this paper is to show how a stage puppet has a very positive effect on a child's overall development while respecting children's rights for play and rest. The paper presents an independent puppet play "Spačka žutog mačka" in which the main characters are animals. Preschool aged children like it the most. The main characters in the play are yellow cat and puppy Bill, They become best friends and experience various funny and successful adventures. This type of play will cheer up children and encourage various artistic, motor and other creations in the kindergarten. The Convention on the Rights of the Child states in Article 31: "The child has the right to play and to rest."
