Febrile convulsions (FC) is the occurrence of epileptic seizures accompanied by increased body temperature in childhood. The cause of febrile convulsions has not yet been certainly established. During the seizure, there is a development of hyperthermia in the body temperature control center, which is located in the hypothalamus. Repetition of convulsive seizures increases the risk of epilepsy at a later stage of life. Febrile convulsions are divided by clinical features and seizure length on simple and complex. The clinical features of convulsive seizure are the occurrence of generalized tonic-clonic cramps, loss of consciousness and increased body temperature. Nursing care is of great importance for recognizing and responding to convulsive seizures, as well as parenting education in case of encountering a seizure outside the hospital. Child care begins with the ABCDE approach, vital function monitoring, and by setting up a peripheral venous route for rapid liquid replenishment and diazepam / lorazepam use according to protocol. The main objective of the study is to define febrile seizures in childhood and to explain the risk factors that affect the development of convulsions, and the importance of recognizing the clinical picture and the way for adequate and timely response. The research was conducted on regular students during the Preliminary Years of Professional Studies at Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Rijeka. A total of 82 students participated in the study, the first year of 27 students, the other 28 students and the third 27 students.
