When observing the type of this joint, it is said that this joint is trochoginglymus, which means that in this joint it is possible to perform movements of the angular joint (flexion and extension) and movements of the rotating joint (rotation). It must be taken into account that rotation can be performed only in the flexed position of the knee because the collateral ligaments are tightened in the extended position of the knee and thus do not allow rotation. The endoprosthesis procedure itself is performed when degenerative changes lead to the destruction of joint structures, when the pain in the joint is so strong that there is a disruption of normal movement and ultimately leading to contractures. Before the operation itself, it is important to check whether all conservative methods have been tried. Knee endoprostheses are divided into total, partial and revision. Total knee endoprosthesis (TEP) is one of the most successful and cost-effective procedures in all orthopedics. The procedure is most often performed in patients suffering from advanced osteoarthritis, but also in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. There are many different designs of TEP and each type has its advantages and disadvantages, so it is necessary to choose the design that would suit the best for the patient. There are many complications of the operation despite the status of a very effective operation, but it also depends a lot on the medical team and of course the surgeon who must have quality cooperation and communication during and after the operation. Rehabilitation also has many ways of implementation and the majority of them have similar results in measuring rehabilitation outcomes. It is advisable to do exercises with your own weight and with an elastic band and spend a lot of time in nature in terms of hiking and walking on uneven terrain.
