Abstract (english) Due to the withdrawal of young people from judo, it is difficult to expect that high senior results will continue to be maintained with the change of generations. Although there is a great potential at younger ages, especially in women’s judo, it is necessary to retain cadets and juniors so that senior results can be maintained. The aim of this paper is to determine the reasons why young judokas give up judo training between the ages of 15 and 20, in the period from younger cadets (U16) to juniors (U21). To obtain the results, a questionnaire with 35 questions was used, examining the reasons related to the relationship between athletes and coaches, parents, colleagues and others. The survey was carried out during April 2020, and it was completed by 137 former judokas, 102 of whom met the criteria. The obtained results were processed in the program named Statistica. The results indicate that the most significant reasons for giving up judo training are: lack of motivation, severe injuries, poor relationship with the coach and school obligations. Guidelines for the further work are aimed at reducing the dropout rate of young people from judo are greater involvement of sports psychologists in coaching seminars, more socializing outside the gym and "team building", greater emphasis on injury prevention in the training process and investing in quality club features and equipment.
