Abstract Prvi počeci zanimanja za razvoj simetrije i mišićavosti tijela sežu još u 19. stoljeće.
objedinjuje zdravu prehranu i odmor. U bodybuildingu, kao i u drugim sportovima i fizičkim
pozitivan i negativan ishod prehrane tijekom tijelogradnje.
mase i smanjenja tjelesne masti, a prilagodba dinamike i intenziteta vježbanja spolu, dobi i
općenito psihofizičkom stanju osobe, omogućit će postizanje snažnog, skladnog i estetski
privlačnog tijela te spriječiti moguće bolesti i ozljede.
Abstract (english) The very origins of the observations of the architectural proportions of human anatomy, and
taking interest in developing the symmetry, as well as the muscular strength and endurance of
the human body can be traced back to the 19th century. Since then, there is a growing
preference and desire to achieve greater mucle definition. Eventually, the term 'Bodybuilding' has
been introduced and came to refer to the systematic development, definition of muscles and the
development of muscular symmetry and proportion. Bodybuilding is one of the most efficient ways
to build muscle. We can say it is an all-day activity, because bodybuilding is not just hard training; it
also requires a healthy nutrition and rest. In bodybuilding, as in other sports and physical activities, particular
attention must be given to sexual dimorphism, i.e., the difference in the physiology and
morphology between men and women, as well as in the body fat percentage and their
endocrine system in order to be able to adjust their diet and the workout intensity to achieve
their fitness goals. This paper focuses on defining bodybuilding as a sport, an aesthetic
activity and a lifestyle. The research will elaborate on the close connection between nutrition
and bodybuilding, i.e., their interdependence, as well as both the positive and negative effects
of nutrition on musle mass during bodybuilding. A balanced diet rich in nutrients, such as
proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, with an intake of supplements is a crucial
factor for building up muscle mass and reducing body fat, while adjusting the workout
dynamics and intensity to fit one's sex, age and the overall mental and physical condition will
enable the person to achieve a strong, harmoniuos and aesthetically appealing body and
prevent potential diseases and injuries.
