Abstract
Taper je vrlo bitna komponenta trenažnih procesa kod svih kompetitivnih natjecanja. Definiran je kao progresivno, ne linearno smanjivanje trenažnog opterećenja u periodu prije natjecanja. Glavna svrha tapera je smanjivanje fizičkog i psihičkog stresa prethodnih treninga te otklanjanje umora kako bi sportske performanse mogle doseći trenutni maksimum. Danas postoji relativno malo znanstvenih dokaza kako bi idealan taper trebao izgledati, stoga se nerjetko dogaĎa da sportaši ne budu u idealnoj formi u željeno vrijeme.
