Abstract
Stigmatizacija predstavlja društvenu reakciju identificiranja na temelju osobina ili situacija pridruženih pojedincu ili specifičnoj društvenoj skupini te njihovu diskriminaciju uzrokovanu stereotipima i predrasudama. Osobe sa duševnim smetnjama posebno su izložene stigmatizaciji i autostigmatizaciji, a čiji negativni efekti uvelike smanjuju kvalitetu života, integraciju u zajednicu i onemogućuju adekvatno liječenje te radno i socijalno funkcioniranje. Redukcija stigmatizacije osoba sa duševnim smetnjama kompleksan je i zahtjevan društveni, znanstveni i stručni pothvat koji treba uključivati antistigma programe sa sustavnim informiranjem opće populacije, neposrednim kontaktom sa stigmatiziranim skupinama, zakonske i druge normativne akte te sustavno obrazovanje. Destigmatizacijske procese potrebno je provoditi sa aspekta uzroka i posljedica te u svim fazama nastanka stigme i negativnih stavova (stereotipi, predrasude, diskriminacija), kao i u svakom od tri stigmatizacijska ciklusa (stigma – autostigma, obitelj – bolesnik, psihijatrijska struka – društvo).
Abstract (english)
The stigmatisation represents a social reaction of identification based on properties or situations associated with an individual or with a specific social group and discrimination of those individuals or groups caused by stereotypes and prejudices. People with mental disabilities are particularly exposed to stigmatisation and autostigmatisation, whose negative effects greatly reduce their quality of life, integration within the community and prevent adequate medical treatment as well as hinder professional and social functioning. Reduction of stigmatisation of people with mental disorders is complex and demanding social, scientific and professional endeavour. It should include antistigma programs comprising of systematic informing of the general population by immediate contact with stigmatised groups, legal and other normative acts and comprehensive education. Destigmatisation processes need to be implemented having in mind the cause and effect, as well as all phases of the creation of stigma and negative attitudes (stereotypes, prejudices, discrimination) and three stigmatisation cycles (stigma – autostigma, family – patient, psychiatric profession – society).
