Abstract
Probiotici su „žvi mikroorganizmi koji primjenjeni u adekvatnim koliĉinama imaju povoljne uĉinke na zdravlje domaćina“, znaĉenje same rijeĉi je „za život“. Mikroorganizmi koji se najĉešće koriste su bakterije, i to roda Lactobacillus i Bifidobaterium. Probiotici se koriste za vraćanje ravnoteţe u oralnoj mikroflori kada patogeni sojevi poĉnu prevladavati, a to postiţu svojim antimikrobnim ili imunomodificirajućim svojstvima, te natjecanjem za mjesta adherencije, za izvor hrane patogenih bakterija i izmjenom uvjeta u oralnoj šupljini. Probiotici pokazuju odliĉne rezultate u borbi protiv parodontnih bolesti, halitoze, kandidijaze i obećavajuće rezultate u prevenciji karijesnih lezija. Imaju širok izbor naĉina primjene, pa ih tako moţemo koristiti u siru, mlijeku i mlijeĉnim napitcima, sladoledu, tabletama, draţejama, gumama za žvaknje, tekućinama, vodicama za ispiranje usta, te još mnogim oblicima
Abstract (english)
Probiotics are „live micro-organisms which, when administeredd in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host“ and the meaning of the term is „for life“. Micro-organisms most commonly used are bacteria and of them the genus Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium are predominant. Probiotics are used to regain the balance of the oral microflora when the pathogen types begin to prevail. They accomplish that by their antimicrobial or immuno modulatory properties, also they compete for the adherence sites, food sources and by modifying the conditions of the oral cavity. Probiotics have shown great results in the fight against periodontal diseases, halitosis, candidiasis and show promising results in the prevention of caries. They have a wide spread of modes of application, therefore we can use them in cheese, milk and dairy drinks, ice cream, pills, lozenges, chewing gum, liquids, mouth washes and much more.
