Abstract
Cilj istraživanja: procijeniti povezanost debljine i njezinih odrednica s koncentracijom vitamina D u serumu. Ispitanici i postupci: Istraţivanje je obuhvatilo 50 pacijenata (16 muškaraca i 34 ţene) Ambulante za debljinu Kliničkog bolničkog centra Rijeka, prosječne dobi 47±11,34 godina i prosječnog indeksa tjelesne mase 44,63±9,20 kg/m2. Rezultati: Prosječna koncentracija vitamina D (25(OH)D) u ispitivanoj skupini iznosila je 35.14±14.24 nmol/L. U svih ispitanika je utvrĎen nedostatak vitamina D, od čega su čak 42 ispitanika (84%) imala razinu vitamina D < 50 nmol/L (deficijencija), a 8 (16%) razinu vitamina D u rasponu od 50 do 75 nmol/L (insuficijencija). Pacijenti s deficijencijom vitamina D su imali veću tjelesnu teţinu, indeks tjelesne mase, opseg struka, postotak masne mase te razinu visceralnog masnog tkiva u odnosu na pacijente s insuficijencijom vitamina D. Starija dob je povezana s većim udjelom masne mase, manjim udjelom mišićne mase i niţom serumskom koncentracijom vitamina D. Zaključak: Iako provedeno na malom uzorku ispitanika rezultati ovog istraţivanja potvrĎuju da pretile osobe imaju značajan nedostatak vitamina D. Potrebna su daljnja istraţivanja kako bi se utvrdili potencijalni benefiti suplementacije vitamina D u pretilih osoba.
Abstract (english)
Objectives: to assess the association between obesity and its determinants and blood vitamin D status Subjects and methods: This research was conducted in 50 patients (16 males and 34 females) who attended the obesity clinic of CHC Rijeka. The mean age was 47±11,34 years and the mean body mass index 44,63±9,20 kg/m2. Results: The mean 25(OH)D level was 35.14±14.24 nmol/L. All of the subjects had low 25(OH)D levels; 42 subjects (84%) had <50 nmol/L (deficiency) and 8 subjects (16%) had between 50 and 75 nmol/L (insufficiency). Patients with vitamin D deficiency had greater body mass, body mass index, waist circumference, higher fat mass and the level of visceral adipose tissue compared to patients with vitamin D insufficiency. Older age was associated with higher fat mass, lower muscle mass and vitamin D level. Conclusion: Although this research was conducted in a small number of subjects, the results confirm that obese patients have significantly decreased levels of vitamin D. Further research is needed to determine the potential benefits of vitamin D supplementation in obese individuals.
