Abstract
Šećerna bolest je najčešći metabolički poremećaj i vrlo česta sustavna bolest s kojom se susreće doktor dentalne medicine. Svrha ovog rada je bila dati pregled literature o oralnim manifestacijama šećerne bolesti i smjernicama dentalne zaštite kod pacijenata sa šećernom bolešću. U usnoj šupljini pacijenata sa šećernom bolešću, naroĉito onih s loše reguliranim glikemijskim indeksom, moţemo naći: zadah po amonijaku, suhoću usta, sindrom pečenja usta, oralni lihen, sijaloadanozu, kandidijazu, karijese, gingivitis, parodontitis i multiple parodontne apscese. Pacijenti s loše reguiliranim glikemijskim indeksom zbog povećane sklonosti infekcijama, otežanog cijeljenja rana i sklonosti krvarenju rizični su pacijenti u ambulanti dentalne medicine. Preporuka je da se dentalni zahvati obavljaju u jutarnjim satima nakon uzimanja lijekova i obroka. Doktor dentalne medicine pri izvođenju kirurških i endodontskih zahvata mora voditi računa o antibiotskoj profilaksi te pripremi sredstva za lokalnu hemostazu. Pridržavajući se preporuka dentalno liječenje ovih pacijenata može biti sigurno na zadovoljstvo i pacijenata i doktora.
Abstract (english)
Diabetes mellitus is a common metabolic disorder and a common systemic disease that dental practitioners come across. The purpose of this study was to review the literature on oral manifestations of diabetes and dental care guidelines for patients with diabetes. Ammonia odor, dry mouth, burning mouth syndrome, oral lichen, sialosis, candidiasis, cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis and multiple periodontal abscesses can be found in the oral cavity of patients with diabetes, especially those with a poorly regulated glycemic index. Patients with poor glycemic index are risk patients during dental surgery because of their increased tendency to infections, slow healing of wounds and bleeding tendency. It is recommended that dental procedures are performed in the morning after taking medication and meals. Dentists must take antibiotic prophylaxis and prepare resources for local hemostasis whilst performing surgical and endodontic procedures. In keeping with the recommendations of dental treatment these patients can be safely treated to the satisfaction of both patients and doctors.
