Abstract
Konjugati metalocenâ s biomolekulama su značajni kako s teorijskog stanovišta (mimetici proteina i ugljikohidrata) tako i zbog moguće primjene u biokemiji, biologiji, biomedicini, itd. [1]. Inhibicija mikrobne adhezije, kao preduvjet za prevenciju infekcije, ostvaruje se dizajnom i sintezom šećernih mimetika koji omogućuju veći afinitet vezivanja na mikrobne proteine nego šećeri iz stanične stijenke. Kao takvi šećerni mimetici opisani su fenilni derivati α-manozidâ I koji inhibiraju hemaglutinaciju E. coli i do 120 puta efikasnije nego njegovi nearomatski analozi [2, 3]. Potaknuti tim rezultatima, pripravljeni su ferocenski derivati α-manozidâ II, a njihovim je biotestiranjem utvrđen inhibicijski učinak.
Abstract (english)
Ferrocene conjugates with biomolecules are of great theorethical importance (proteine and carbohydrate mimetics). Also, these compounds are potentially aplicable in biochemistry, biomedicine, etc. [1]. Inhibition of microbial adhesion, as prerequisite for preventing infection, could be achieved by design and synthesis of carbohydrate mimetics with better binding potencies to microbial proteins than cell wall carbohydrates. Phenyl α-mannosides I are described as carbohydrate mimetics which are up to 120-fold more effective as inhibitors of hemagglutination by E. coli than their antiaromatic analogues [2, 3]. Prompted by these results, we prepared ferrocene derivatives of α-mannosides II showing inhibitory effects in biological tests.
