Abstract	Sumporovodik je treći otkriveni plinoviti prenositelj staničnog signala kod biljaka, uz ugljik monoksid i dušik oksid. Dugo se smatralo da je on toksičan za rast i razvoj biljaka zbog toga jer su se u istraživanjima koristile previsoke doze spomenutog spoja. Međutim, promjenom pristupa u istraživanjima i korištenjem mikromolarnih doza ovog plina, sve je više dokaza o njegovoj pozitivnoj ulozi kod biljaka uzgajanih u uvjetima biotskog ili abiotskog stresa. Prisustvo teških metala u povećanim koncentracijama u agrikulturnim tlima je vrlo čest problem u suvremenoj poljoprivredi, koji izazivajući stres na molekularnoj i staničnoj razini, značajno smanjuju kvalitetu i kvantitetu prinosa. Zbog dokazanih pozitivnih učinaka, vanjska upotreba donora sumporovodika može uvelike pomoći biljkama da lakše prevladaju stres izazvan teškim metalima, smanjujući štetne efekte osmotskog, ionskog te oksidativnog stresa u stanicama. U ovom je radu prikazan pregled literature i trenutnih znanstvenih spoznaja, koja se bave navedenom problematikom na staničnoj, genetskoj i molekularnoj razini.
Abstract (english)	Hydrogen sulfide is the third discovered gasotransmitter, beside the carbon monoxide and nitric oxide. For a long time it has been considered as a toxic to the plant growth and development because the doses of before mentioned compound used in the researches were to high. However, by changing approach in the research and using micromolar doses of this gas, there is growing evidences of its positive role in plants grown under biotic or abiotic stress. The presence of heavy metals in increased concentrations in agricultural soils is a very common problem in modern agriculture, causing stress on molecular and cellular levels what significantly reduce the quality and quantity of yield. Due to proven positive effects, the external usage of hydrogen sulfide can greatly help plants to overcome stress caused by heavy metals, reducing the harmful effects of osmotic, ionic and oxidative stress in cells. This paper presents an overview of literature and current scientific knowledge that deals with the above-mentioned problem at the cell, genetic and molecular level.
