Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je prikazati karakteristike biljke stevije (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni), višegodišnjeg grma koji potječe iz Paragvaja. Pregledno je prikazana povijest i uporaba stevije te načini i mogućnosti uzgoja kroz opisane agroekološke uvjete uzgoja i tehnologiju proizvodnje koju ova biljka zahtjeva. Stevija predstavlja potencijalno vrijednu poljoprivrednu kulturu čiji se listovi zbog specifičnog sastava glikozida koriste za zaslađivanje. Za ostvarivanje optimalnih prinosa i kvalitetnog sastava lista stevije potrebno je uvažiti specifične zahtjeve prema agroekološkim uvjetima ove kulture kao i primijeniti potrebnu tehnologiju uzgoja. Prinosi stevije kreću se od 2500 do 4500 kg suhog lista po hektaru.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this paper is to show the characteristics of the Stevia plant (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni), a perennial bush that originates from Paraguay. The history and use of stevia, as well as the ways and possibilities of breeding, are represented through the described agroecological conditions of breeding and the production technology that this plant requires. Stevia represents potentially valuable agricultural culture whose leaves are used for sweetening because of the specific composition of glycosides. In order to achieve optimal yields and quality composition of the stevia, it is necessary to considerate the specific requirements related to to the agroecological conditions of this crop as well as to apply the necessary breeding technology. Stevia yield ranges from 2500 to 4500 kg of dry leaf per hectare.
