Abstract	Crijevna alkalna fosfataza jedan je od četiri izoenzima alkalne fosfataze koja ima brojne funkcije u organizmu, između ostalih defosforilaciju toksičnih lipopolisaharida koji su sastavni dio vanjske stijenke Gram–negativnih bakterija. Izlučuju je enterociti crijevnih resica koje štiti od atrofije uzrokovane bolestima pa se može reći da postoji pozitivna povratana sprega između visine crijevnih resica i količine izlučene crijevne alkalne fosfataze. Selen je mikroelement koji djeluje kao pojačivač imunosnog sustava i antioksidans, izgrađuje selenoproteine od kojih je najpoznatija glutation peroksidaza. Glutation peroksidaza djeluje u očuvanju staničnih membrana i nukleinskih kiselina koje se oštećuju tijekom oksidativnog stresa uzrokovanog reaktivnim kisikovim vrstama. Različiti izvori dodanih količina selena u obroku prasadi povećavaju aktivnost crijevne alkalne fosfataze. Najoptimalniji izvor selena je organski selen u obliku selenometionina jer posjeduje vrlo visoku bioiskoristivnost u organizmu. Prasad u odbiću prolazi stresno razdoblje u kojem se često pojavljuju enteritičke bolesti i dijareja, a zaštitna uloga selena i detoksifikacijska uloga alkalne fosfataze pomaže organizmu u prevenciji razvoja toksičnih bakterija. Prasad s jačim imunosnim sustavom prije postiže završnu tjelesnu masu jer ima bolju konverziju hrane i veće dnevne priraste.
Abstract (english)	Intestinal alkaline phosphatase is one out of four isoenzymes of alkaline phosphatase which has numerous functions in the organism, including dephosphorylation of toxic lipopolysaccharides that are a key component of the outer wall of Gram-negative bacteria. It is secreted by intestinal enterocytes which protects against atrophy caused by diseases, so it can be said that there is a positive correlation between the height of the villus and the amount of excreted intestinal alkaline phosphatase. Selenium is a microelement that acts like a immune system booster and an antioxidant. It forms selenoproteins, and one of the most known is glutathione peroxidase. Glutathione peroxidase takes part in perservation of cell membranes and nucleic acids that are damaged during oxidative stress which is caused by reactive oxygen species. Various sources of excess quantities of selenium in pigs food increase the activity of intestinal alkaline phosphatase. The most optimal source of selenium is the organic selenium in the form of selenomethionine because it has a high percentage of bioavailability in the organism. Piglets in weaning goes through a stress period in which it is common for diseases like enteritis and diarrhoea and the protective role of selenium and the detoxifying role of alkaline phosphatase aids the organism in prevention of the development of toxic bacteria. Pigs with better immunity reach their final body mass faster because they have better conversion of food and larger daily increments.
