Abstract	Požar je jedna od najvećih opasnosti s kojom se posada broda mora nositi i to je jedan od najvažnijih razloga zbog čega mora biti dobro uvježbana. Osnovni korak u protupožarnoj zaštiti na brodovima za prijevoz kontejnera je pravodobna detekcija i aktiviranje alarmnog sustava automatski sa detektorima ili ručno, te pristup gašenju požara u ranoj fazi korištenjem svih potrebnih i raspoloživih sustava za gašenje požara.
Abstract (english)	Fire is one of the most dangerous situations on board which crew has to handle and it is one of most important reasons why crewmembers had to be well trained. First step in firefighting procedures on container ships is fire detection and activating the fire alarm automatically or manually and then extinguishing the fire at its early stage using all means available and using all required fire-fighting systems.
