Abstract	Korijen i podanak biljne vrste Rhodiola rosea, L. se već dugi niz godina upotrebljavaju u tradicionalnoj medicini, najviše u Rusiji i skandinavskim zemljama. Dvije važne skupine spojeva koje trebaju sadržavati ekstrakti ružičastog žednjaka su salidrozidi i rosavini, za ovu biljku karakteristična skupina spojeva, u omjeru 1:3 u kojem se oni prirodno nalaze u biljci. Ružičasti žednjak ima širok spektar učinaka. Pozitivno djeluje na stres, kognitivne funkcije, smanjenje simptoma depresije, anksioznosti i na povećanje fizičke izdržljivosti, a pomaže i u prilagodbi na visoku nadmorsku visinu. Za spomenute, kao i za druge indikacije ipak još uvijek nije postignuta zadovoljavajuća razina kliničkih dokaza, tako da u zemljama Europske unije pripravci ružičastog žednjaka nisu registrirani kao biljni lijekovi provjerene medicinske uporabe, nego samo kao tradicionalni biljni lijekovi za smanjenje simptoma stresa.
Abstract (english)	Root and rhizome of Rhodiola rosea L. have been used in traditional medicine for years, mostly in Russia and Scandinavia. Two important chemical compounds that roseroot extracts should contain are salidroside and rosavins, a typical components of Rhodiola rosea, in their naturally occuring ratio 3:1. Rose root has a wide range of therapeutic effects such as positive influence on stress, cognitive function, reduction of symptoms of depression and anxiety, increase of physical endurance and adaptation to high altitude. There are still not enough clinical evidence for these and other indication. That is why within countries of European Union, there are no preparations with well established medicinal use. Rhodiola is used as traditional herbal medicinal product for reduction of symptoms of stress.
