Abstract
Slobodni radikali, zbog svoje reaktivnosti, sudjeluju u mnogobrojnim procesima koji oštećuju stanične dijelove i funkciju stanice. Kako bi se zaštitio od štetnog djelovanja slobodni radikala organizam je razvio mehanizme kojima se stanično oštećenje uzrokovano slobodnim radikalima može spriječiti. Antioksidanski neutraliziraju višak slobodnih radikala čime štite stanicu od njihovog štetnog djelovanja te sprječavaju nastanak i razvoj bolesti. Propolis je poznat od davnina te osim antioksidativnih svojstava posjeduje niz drugih korisnih bioloških učinaka: antibakterijski, antifungalni, antivirusni, protuupalni. Također ima i blago lokalno anestetičko djelovanje. U ovom radu ispitivali smo postoje li razlike u antioksidativnom učinku propolisa s različitih geografskih položaja u Republici Hrvatskoj. EPR spektroskopijom ispitivan je antioksidativni učinak etanolne otopine propolisa u interakciji sa semi-stabilnim radikalom DPPH u in vitro uvjetima. Potvrđena je hipoteza da će se učinak razlikovati, što je rezultat različitog kvalitativnog i kvantitativnog sastava polifenola u propolisu koji potječu s različitih područja.
Abstract (english)
Free radicals, because of its reactivity, participate in a number of processes that damage the cell components and cell function. In order to protect it from the damaging effects of free radicals, the body has developed mechanisms to prevent cellular damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants neutralize excess free radicals, which protects cells from their harmful effects and prevent the emergence and development of disease. Propolis has been known since ancient times and has antioxidant properties in addition to a host of other useful biological effects: antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory. It also has a slightly local anesthetic action. In this study, we investigated whether there were differences in the antioxidant effect of propolis from different geographical position in Croatia. EPR spectroscopy was used to study antioxidant effect of propolis in the ethanol solution in the interaction with the semi-stable radical DPPH in vitro. We confirmed the hypothesis that the effects vary as a result of different qualitative and quantitative composition of polyphenols in propolis originating from different areas.
