Due to the various side effects of the existing therapy in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the increasing number of deaths from cardiac arrest and stroke in developed countries, the goal is to find safer and more effective therapy. From the very beginning, people turned to nature in order to find solution for health issues. Numerous studies have shown that compounds isolated from natural sources, such as polyphenols, show significant health benefits and thus anti-aggregation effect as an essential link in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Thrombocytes play a major role in hemostasis and thrombosis. By the method of impedance agregometry, according to the generic procedure of the producer of the Multiplate® analyzer instrument, the antiaggregation effect was investigated on ten samples of Lamiaceae family tested extracts with ADP as the inductance aggregator. The results are shown as the minimum anti-aggregation concentration (MINaAC), which statistically significantly reduces aggregation. The LC-MS method was used to identify the plant extracts components. MINaAC values ranged between 0,02 μM for Ocimum basilicum to 206,79 μM for Lavandula sp. The final results showed that Ocimum basilicum had the strongest anti-aggregation effect. Plant extracts rich in polyphenols that show antiaggregating properties could be used in prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
