The breast is the most common carcinoma site in women (frequency about 24%), according to the GLOBOCAN’s (interactive web page which presents global statistical data about the incidence of carcinoma to inform about control options and researches from this field of science) and the Croatian national cancer record’s data. Breast carcinoma is affected by lots of genetic factors, such as mutations in the BRCA genes. Moreover, breast carcinoma is also influenced by environmental factors like radiation, nutrition, endogenous and exogenous factors, and sex hormones. During the period of 2015 to 2021, a retrospective research was done at the Tumor Clinic of the KBC Sestre milosrdnice in Zagreb, to investigate the relationship between indirect haematological factors, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio – NLR, platelets to lymphocyte ratio – PLR, systemic immune-inflammation index – SII and the treatment outcome as well as overall survival of patients after 5 years. 192 women with breast carcinoma were included in this research. Clinical and haematological-biochemical data were collected from all women. The Hi-quadrat test determined a statistically significant correlation between NLR and SII with the age of the patients: younger women had higher values of NLR (P=0.025) and SII (P<0.001) compared to older women. At a cut-off value of 2.65 (P=0.001) and 3.30 (P<0.001), a decline in the NLR value was noticed after surgery. The same decline in value after surgery was noticed for the SII (P<0.001). Through this research, SII has been shown to be superior and more comprehensive than parameters set by NLR and PLR. Also, this research recommends 2.65 as the optimal cut-off value for NLR in predicting a successful surgery.
