Abstract
Lemna minor i L. trisulca uzgajane su u zasebnim kulturama te u miješanoj kulturi koja je sadržavala obje vrste. Procijenila sam učinak bakra (5 μmol dm-3) na rast i nekoliko fizioloških pokazatelja te usporedila učinak na biljke u pojedinačnim i miješanim kulturama. Bakar nije uzrokovao značajnu promjenu rasta (izraženu kao porast broja biljaka) u vrste L. trisulca, ali je na L. minor djelovao inhibitorno. Nisam utvrdila razliku u odgovoru biljaka u pojedinačnim i miješanim kulturama. Tretman bakrom nije utjecao na udio topivih proteina, ali je povećao aktivnost peroksidaze u obje vrste biljaka. Vrijednosti tih dvaju parametara nisu se značajno razlikovale u pojedinačnih i miješanih kultura. Bakar nije utjecao na promjenu udjela fotosintetskih pigmenata u vrste L. trisulca, ali je kod L. minor uzrokovao povećanje udjela klorofila a i karotenoida u miješanim kulturama. Smanjio je optimalni prinos fotosistema II (PSII) te vrijednost nefotokemijskog gašenja u vrste L. trisulca, osobito u pojedinačnoj kulturi. U vrste L. minor nisam uočila značajan utjecaj bakra na učinkovitost fotosinteze, a nije bilo niti razlike između biljaka u miješanim i pojedinačnim kulturama. Na temelju dobivenih rezultata mogu zaključiti da se odgovor dviju biljnih vrsta na bakar u pojedinačnim kulturama ne razlikuje od odgovora u miješanoj kulturi. Međutim, u kontrolnim kulturama rast vrste L. minor bio je veći u pojedinačnoj kulturi.
Abstract (english)
Lemna minor and L. trisulca were cultivated in single and mixed culture (conteining both duckweed species). Plant growth and several physiological responses to copper (5 μmol dm-3) in both culture types were evaluated. Copper did not show significant effect on growth (based on frond number) of L. trisulca, but it inhibited growth of L. minor. However, there was no difference in growth of duckweed species in single and mixed cultures. Copper treatment did not cause changes in soluble proteins content, but it increased peroxidase activity in both species. There were no significant differences in these two parameters in single and mixed cultures. Copper did not affect photosynthetic pigments content in L. trisulca, but in L. minor it increased chlorophyll a and carotenoid content in mixed cultures. Maximum quantum yield of photosystem II (PSII) and nonphotochemical quenching of L. trisulca were decreased, especially in single culture. No significant effect of copper on photosynthetic efficiency of L. minor was noticed and also there was no differences between plants in mixed and single cultures. Based on obtained results, it could be concluded that the response of two species on copper in single cultures was not different from response in mixed culture. However, growth of L. minor in control cultures was greater in single cultures in comparison to mixed culture.
