Abstract	Javni gradski promet važan je čimbenik u funkcioniranju svakog grada. Njegova uloga se sastoji u što efikasnijem zadovoljavanju potreba stanovnika za kretanjem. U radu se razmatra javni gradski promet u gradu Rijeci, odnosno njegova organizacija i razvoj. Cilj istraživanja je analizirati i utvrditi u kojoj mjeri uspostavljena organizacija javnog prometa zadovoljava prijevozne potrebe stanovništva. Analizira se trenutno stanje javnog gradskog prometa i vezani problemi. Današnje stanje karakterizira zastarjela i neadekvatna organizacija te višegodišnja stagnacija, što je posljedica naslijeđenog stanja, specifične cestovne mreže i cjelokupne prometne situacije u gradu. Uzevši u obzir sve navedeno, dan je prijedlog nove organizacije javnog prometa.
Abstract (english)	Urban public transportation is an important factor in functioning of every city. Its purpose is to fulfill a demand for mobility. The thesis deals with public transportation in the city of Rijeka, its organization and development. The purpose of this research is to analyze and determine the extent to which the established organization of public transportation meets the needs of the population. The author gives an analysis of current situation in public transportation, and of related problems. Present organization is obsolete and inadequate, and is characterized by perennial stagnation, which is the result of inherited state, specific road network and cities overall transport situation. With all the above in mind, a proposition for a new organization of public transportation was given.
