Abstract	Ovaj rad prikazuje razvoj Vinkovačke u drugoj polovici 20.-og i početkom 21.-og stoljeća. Cilj ovog rada je s demografskog i gospodarskog aspekta prikazati transformaciju ove regije na prijelazu iz socijalističkog razdoblja u razdoblje tržišno orijentirane ekonomije i objasniti faktore koji su utjecali na nešto lošiji razvoj ove regije u zadnjih 20 godina. Vinkovačka regija 90.-ih godina prolazi kroz procese pretvorbe i privatizacije koji su se poklopili s velikosrpskom agresijom na Hrvatsku i ostavili negativne učinke i na ovaj kraj. Krajnji cilj ovog rada je istražiti brojne mogućnosti gospodarskog napretka u svrhu poboljšanja demografskih i gospodarskih prilika i općenito poboljšanja kvalitete života stanovnika Vinkovačke regije.
Abstract (english)	This paper is written to give insight about the Vinkovci region during the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. The aim of this paper is to show the demographic and the economic aspects of the transformation of this region caused by the switch from a socialist to a market-based economy, and to try to explain the factors that caused the somewhat inhibited development of this region during the last 20 years. During the Serbian aggression in the 1990s, the Vinkovci region went through the processes of privatization and transition, which reflected negatively onto its development. The main goal of this paper is to explore the numerous possibilities of economic progress for the region, in order to improve the demographic and economic conditions, along with the quality of life of the Vinkovci region in general.
