Abstract
One of the methods of obtaining high pressure is a diamond anvil cell. Such a cell exists in the Technical University of Vienna (Technische Universität Wien) in Austria. The task of this work is to obtain high pressure using that cell by applying force on it using a hydraullic press. The pressure is calculated from the spectrum of a piece of ruby that is under said pressure. However, the cell has problems that need to be solved: 1. The diamonds used in the cell break. 2. The ruby used to calculate the pressure is too big for the apparatus. 3. It’s necessary to correlate the applied force from outside and the pressure inside the cell. After trial and error and a few broken diamonds, changing the method used to operate the cell, the work was a success. The diamonds didn’t break anymore (not forcing the screws on top of the cell), the ruby was small enough (crushed between two microscopic slides and not by hand like before) and the force and the pressure had a fairly good correlation (the screws were not too tight). The highest obtained usable pressure is 10.07 GPa.

Jedna od metoda postizanja visokog tlaka je dijamantna ćelija. Takva ćelija postoji na Tehničkom Sveučilištu u Beču (Technische Universität Wien) u Austriji. Zadatak je postići visok tlak koristeći tu ćeliju pritišćući ju hidrauličkom prešom. Tlak se računa iz spektra rubina koji je pod spomenutim tlakom. Međutim, ćelija ima nekoliko problema koje treba riješiti: 1. Dijamanti pucaju. 2. Rubin korišten za računanje tlaka je prevelik za aparaturu. 3. Potrebno je korelirati vanjsku silu i tlak u ćeliji. Nakon pokušaja i grešaka te nekoliko razbijenih dijamanata, mijenjajući metodu korištenja ćelije, rad je bio uspjeh. Dijamanti više nisu pucali (vijci na ćeliji se nisu nasilu zatezali), rubin je bio dovoljno malen (smrvljen između dva predmetna stakalca, a ne lomljen ručno kao prije) i sila i tlak su imali poprilično dobru korelaciju (vijci nisu bili previše zategnuti). Najviši koristan tlak koji je postignut je 10.07 GPa.
