Abstract
Endokrine žlijezde proizvode regulacijske molekule ili hormone koji se luče u krv. Razlikujući se u kemijskoj strukturi mogu se podijeliti u tri kategorije: kateholamini, polipeptidi i glikoproteini, te steroidi. Hormoni djeluju tako da se najprije povezuju sa receptorima, koji mogu biti smješteni na površini membrane, u citoplazmi ili jezgri, i izazivaju niz kemijskih reakcija, te na taj način mijenjaju metabolizam ciljne stanice i izazivaju različite učinke u organizmu. Hormoni mogu djelovati međusobno, i na taj način mogu proizvesti sinergističke, permisivne i antagonističke učinke. Djelovanje hormona je regulirano mehanizmom negativne povratne sprege i na taj način se održava homeostaza u organizmu. Kao posljedica poremećaja funkcioniranja endokrinih žlijezda, a time i hormona nastaju različite bolesti u organizmu.
Abstract (english)
Regulatory molecules or hormones produced by endocrine glands are secreted into blood. Differing in chemical structure they can be divided in three groups: cateholamines, polypeptides and glicoproteins, and steroids. Hormones act through binding to their receptors on cell membrane, in cytoplasm or nucleus to induce series of chemical reactions, thus changing metabolism of target cell and cause various effects in the body. Hormone interaction produces synergistic, permissive or antagonistic effects. Action of hormones is regulated by negative feedback mechanism, thus maintain homeostasis in the body. Disorder of endocrine glands functioning, results in disbalance leading to many diseases.
