Abstract	Smisao ovog rada je opisati i izvesti toplinsku obradu poboljšavanja određenog strojnog dijela. Rad je koncipiran u dva glavna dijela. Prvi dio opisuje osnovna znanja o samom materijalu i promjenama njegove mikrostrukture, teoriju toplinske obrade uz pojašnjenje pojedinih vrsta, te metode ispitivanja tvrdoće materijala. Drugi dio rada opisuje praktični dio toplinske obrade poboljšavanja čelika i indukcijskog kaljenja, odnosno upotpunjava stečeno teoretsko znanje.
Abstract (english)	The point of this thesis is description and realization of the steel hardening process of machine part. Thesis is depicted in two major parts. The first part describes theory about material, material transformations, heat treatment and hardness testing methods. The second part of thesis describes realization of steel hardening and case-hardening, in manner of perfecting already acquired theroetical knowledge.
