Abstract
The goal of this final thesis is to examine the linguistic phenomenon of “Runglish”, the mixture of two languages – Russian and English, and to describe its linguistic and social characteristics. “Runglish” is a hybrid language spoken primarily in the Russian communities in the United States of America. The theoretical and methodological background of this thesis is based on the scientific work of Croatian linguists Rudolf Filipović and Antica Menac, as well as the other important Russian and American linguists, who were investigating the linguistic influence of the English language on the Russian language. The orthographic, phonological and morphological adaptation of English borrowings in the Russian language is also analysed in this final thesis.

Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je proučiti jezični fenomen zvan “Runglish”, kombinaciju dvaju jezika, engleskog i ruskog, te opisati njegove jezične i socijalne karakteristike. “Runglish” je hibridni jezik koji se govori prvenstveno u ruskim zajednicama u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama. Teorijska i metodološka podloga ovog diplomskog rada se temelji na znanstvenom radu hrvatskih jezikoslovaca Rudolfa Filipovića i Antice Menac, kao i drugih važnih ruskih i američkih jezikoslovaca koji su istraživali jezični utjecaj engleskog jezika na ruski jezik. Ortografska, fonološka i morfološka adaptacija engleskih posuđenica u ruskom jeziku se također analizira u ovom diplomskom radu.
