Abstract	Malformacije predstavljaju poremećaje embrionalnog razvoja nastale prije završetka morfološke i funkcionalne organogeneze. Radi se o skupini anomalija koji uključuju promjene broja, oblika, veličine, položaja, kontinuiteta šupljih organa, zatvaranja embrionalnih pukotina, perzistenciju embrionalnih tvorbi te pojavu tumora. Opisani su unutarnji i vanjski čimbenici koji dovode po pojave malformacija, te je objašnjen embrionalni postanak neuralne cijevi, glave i vrata. Kritični period za razvoj većine organskih sustava je u prvim tjednima razvoja embrija, te je većina nastalih kongenitalnih malformacija povezana upravo sa ovim razdobljem. Opisane su najčešće malformacije nastale zbog nezatvaranja neuralne cijevi, što u kranijalnom, što u kaudalnom području. Među nabrojenim malformacijama postoje one koje dovode do embrionalne smrti, zatim one koje uzrokuju uginuće u ranoj dobi, te malformacije sa kojima životinje mogu živjeti nesmetano godinama, ili uz odgovarajuću skrb i pomoć.
Abstract (english)	Malformations represent a group of disorders of the embrional development, which have taken place before the morphologic and functional organogenesis have ended. These are a group of anomalies that include changes in number, shape, size, position, continuity of hollow organs, the closure of embryonic fissure, persistence of embryonic formations and the formation of tumors. Here are described the internal and external factors that are thought to be the cause of malformations, as well as the embryonic origin of the neural tube, the head and the neck. The critical period for the development of most organ systems is in the first fiew weeks and almost all congenital anomalies are connected to this period of embryonic origin. The most common malformations due to non-closure of the cranial and caudal part of the neural tube have been described. Among the listed malformations, there are those which end up causing embryonic death, those which cause death soon after the birth as well as those with whoom animals live without any difficulties, or with adequate care and help.
