Abstract
Procjena tjelesne kondicije domaćih životinja (goveda, ovaca i koza, konja, svinja, peradi te pasa i mačaka) predstavlja jednu od najvažnijih osobina u ocjeni i vrednovanju vanjštine jedinki. Kondicija je nasljedno uvjetovano obilježje, pod znatnim je utjecajem čimbenika iz okoliša i lako se mijenja tijekom života jedinke. U svih vrsta domaćih životinja razlikujemo nekoliko tipova kondicije, među kojima su najčešće rasplodna, izložbena, tovna i izgladnjela kondicija. Prilikom procjene tjelesne kondicije koriste se numeričke vrijednosti prema bodovnoj skali, specifično propisanoj za svaku vrstu životinje, a mogu se kretati od 0 do 5, odnosno od 1 do 9. Raspon bodovanja specifičan je za svaku vrstu i pasminu životinja. Najčešće se koristi metoda subjektivne procjene na razini jedinke ili stada, a u cilju sprečavanja visoke varijabilnosti tjelesne kondicije domaćih životinja, kako bi se unaprijedila i očuvala proizvodna svojstva, zdravlje i dugovječnosti jedinki u uzgoju.
Abstract (english)
Evaluation of body condition in domestic animals (cattle, sheep and goats, horses, , pigs, poultry, dogs and cats) represents one of the most significant characteristics when it comes to evaluating the physical condition of the animal. Physical condition is a hereditary feature and is under a significant influence of external factors and therefore varies during the animal’s lifetime. We can differentiate different types of physical conditions in all kinds of domestic animals, which most often are: breeding, exhibition, fattening and starving. Numeric rating scales are used during the examination of the body condition for each individual animal species. These numeric values are zero to five, or one to nine. However, the numeric scale is specific for each animal species, breed and breed group. The most frequent method is the subjective estimation on the individual or herd level, with the aim to prevent the high variability in physical estimation in order to improve and maintain breeding, health and longevity characteristics.
