Abstract Devizno tržište predstavlja specijalizirani dio financijskih tržišta na kojem se kupuju i prodaju strana sredstva plaćanja, usklađuje ponuda i potražnja za devizama, utvrđuje devizni tečaj i upravlja deviznim pričuvama zemlje. Temeljni zadatak deviznog tržišta je održavanje optimalne razine likvidnosti subjekata gospodarstva u njihovim transakcijama s inozemstvom. To znači, da osnovu deviznog tržišta čini međunarodni platni promet. Osnovne funkcije deviznog tržišta su: ostvarivanje devizne likvidnosti, ostvarivanje zaštite od deviznih rizika, ostvarivanje odgovarajuće zarade na neusklađenim promjenama deviznih tečajeva i kamatnih stopa. Instrumenti deviznog tržišta su platni instrumenti koji sadrže potraživanje izraženo u stranoj valuti. Pored stranih novčanih jedinica (papirni i kovani novac), međunarodni platni instrumenti su: transferi, mjenice, čekovi i dr. Na deviznom tržištu pojavljuju se različiti sudionici: poslovne banke, središnje banke, uvoznici i izvoznici, te drugi specijalizirani subjekti. Na deviznom tržištu obavljaju se sljedeći poslovi: a) kupnja i prodaja deviza, koja se vrši zbog obavljanja međunarodnih plaćanja, održavanja likvidnosti, ostvarivanja zarada i sl. Ovi poslovi mogu biti promptni i terminski b) davanje i uzimanje međubankarskih deviznih depozita. Tu je riječ o poslovima polaganja deviznih depozita kod drugih banaka, s različitim rokom i različitom kamatom c) poslovi smanjenja deviznog rizika. Riječ je o financijskim inovacijama na svjetskim financijskim tržištima, kao što su: swop aranžmani, devizne opcije, forward i future ugovori.
Abstract (english) The foreign exchange market is a specialized part of the financial market where the foreign exchange funds are bought and sold, the foreign exchange offers and demand is adjusted, the foreign exchange rate is regulated and the foreign exchange reserves of the country are determined. The underlying task of the foreign exchange market is to maintain the optimal liquidity level of the entities in their foreign transactions. This means that the foreign exchange market is made up of international payments. The main functions of the foreign exchange market are: the realization of foreign currency liquidity, the realization of hedging against foreign exchange risks, the achievement of adequate earnings on non-harmonized changes in foreign exchange Courses and interest rates. Instruments of the foreign exchange market are payment instruments that contain claims denominated in foreign currency. In addition to foreign cash units (paper and forged money), international payment instruments are: transfers, bills of exchange, checks, etc. On the foreign exchange market there are different participants: business banks, central banks, importers and exporters, and other specialized entities. On the foreign exchange market the following jobs are performed: a) purchase and sale of foreign currency, which is carried out for the purpose of making international payments, maintaining liquidity, earning income etc. These jobs may be prompt and timely b) giving and taking interbank foreign currency deposits. This is a matter of depositing foreign currency deposits with other banks with different maturities and different interest rates c) foreign exchange risk reduction operations. It is about financial innovations in the global financial markets, such as swop arrangements, foreign exchange options, forward and future contracts.
