The aim of this paper is to present the system of competitions in alpine skiing for the hearing impaired and to present competitions for deaf alpine skiers. This paper also deals with the history of alpine skiing in the world and in Croatia, definitions of deafness and hearing impaired, sign language and explains the limitations of these health conditions for alpine skiers from an early age. The ways of communication, the general context of deaf sports are described, and an overview of individual competitive disciplines and competitions through which deaf alpine skiers compete is made on the example of a four-year Olympic cycle. The difference between deaf competitions and Paralympic sports is explained. The reasons why deaf athletes must have separate competitions are highlighted, as well as other problems that are current in deaf athletes' skiing, such as clear differences in life, training and competition of deaf and hearing athletes due to different levels of socialization with the general population. Deaf athletes are considered physically equal compared to hearing athletes with the exception of social- communication barriers. The deaf community is not considered disabled, especially in the physical sense, but is described as a minority community that has its own cultural and linguistic identity and in this context has fought for its own competitions described in the paper. The paper presents a detailed overview of competitions and disciplines, competitors according to the number, gender and success in alpine skiing for the deaf since they were held. Alpine skiing for the deaf allows people with hearing impairments to compete, socialize and maintain a high level of motivation to play sports, which would not be possible in this way if they competed with the hearing.
