Early recognition and recall of a resuscitation team, early cardiopulmonary resuscitation, early defibrillation, and postresuscitational care are important interventions in the survival chain. Knowledge and experience are required to recognize and analyze heart rhythm on an electrocardiogram. Heart rhythm disorders associated with cardiac arrests can be divided into two groups; defibrillated rhythms (ventricular fibrillation/ ventricular tachycardia without pulse) and rhythms that are not defibrillated (asystole/ electrical activity without pulse). Survival is improved by early cardiopulmonary resuscitation, uninterrupted and high quality external heart massage and early defibrillation for ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia without pulse. When defibrillating, it is important to set correctly the electrodes with which shock is delivered and to select the appropriate electric power on the two-phase or single-phase defibrillator. The ensuring of the respiratory tract through endotracheal intubation is the safest method, and the vein route secured via the central venous catheter is a shorter period of drug circulation. In the medical treatment process, consideration should be given to possible reversible causes of cardiac arrest and the use of drugs during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A trained team of cardiopulmonary resuscitation will know how to respond promptly and provide quality care. The leading role is taken over by a team leader who leads the team's other members to achieve the best outcome for the patient. Unavoidable part of this is quality equipment. The decision to initiate resuscitation is sensitive and potentially disturbing, and this affects the number of factors, so it is important that health professionals understand the principles of this problem.
