Sažetak (engleski) Nikolaus Lenau was an Austrian poet and writer. His poem "Ahasuerus, the Eternal Jew", which was written over four years, includes verses that are melancholic and pessimistic, relatable to his own life. He incorporated many of his personal problems within his works which indicates that his mental state was similar to Ahasvers. The term "Eternal Jew" (adapted from Ahasuerus) dates from at least the 17th century, according to the Bible. Ahasver meaning: "atheist.“ In this poem, five main identities are addressed; gender, emotion, religion, social and the identity of Ahasuer. Ahasver's story correlates with the status of the Jewish community today. With the legend stating that because of his behavior the Jewish people continue to carry the burden in the present time.
Therefore, the term 'identity' is often associated with the adjective 'Jewish'.
